Cafeteria leftovers turned into charity

SHIPPENSBURG (AP) — Shippensburg University students are finding a way to get the cafeteria’s leftovers onto the plates of hungry people.

WGAL-TV in Lancaster reported that the five-week-old volunteer program has saved 260 pounds of food.

For the past five Fridays, senior Christina Qawasmy and some fellow students have collected uneaten food left after lunch. They’re boxing it up for the “Kitchen of Grace,” part of the First Church of God a few blocks from the university, where more than 200 people come each Friday for a meal.
