The Indiana County Reading Council recently presented Julie Wise in a program titled “Reading Secrets: Using Analogies to Engage Readers and Encourage Close Reading and Using QR Codes in Education.”

She discussed what FLIRTing, DRIVEing and RELAXing have to do with reading and how acronyms and analogies can create curiosity and deepen students’ understanding of the abstract reading process.

Wise has been an educator for 20 years and is the president-elect of the Keystone State Reading Association.
