About 100 students from 11 school districts in state Sen. Don White’s 41st District attended “The Future Starts Today” program at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex at IUP on Tuesday, designed to show students how government functions and reacts to public policy issues.

Students were able to discuss legislation in committee and write amendments to them during morning sessions, then vote on the bills in the afternoon.

Panelists from across Pennsylvania included elected officials, legislative staff, members of the executive branch of state government and representatives from special interest groups.
