Death prompts ‘Mudder’ review
GLENGARY, W.Va. (AP) — Organizers are reviewing a Tough Mudder endurance event held in West Virginia following the death of a competitor.
Police said Avishek Sengupta, 28, of Ellicott City, Md., was found last Saturday in water at the “Walk the Plank” obstacle of an event near Glengary. He died the next day at a Virginia hospital. A medical examiner said Sengupta drowned.
Tough Mudder spokeswoman Ashley Pina-kiewicz said the organization is reviewing the protocol for all obstacles. It also is reviewing how water safety personnel are briefed and managed.
