on November 20, 2013 10:30 AM

WASHINGTON (AP) — A 17-year-old eighth-grader was in juvenile custody after police say a gun fell out of his pocket during some horseplay in the hallway of a Washington County school.

Police aren’t identifying the Washington Junior/Senior High School student who was arrested Tuesday, because the case is being handled in Washington County Juvenile Court.

But police say the student faces charges including disorderly conduct, risking a catastrophe and a firearms charge.

Washington School District Superintendent Roberta DiLorenzo says the student was horsing around with another when the gun fell out of his pocket at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. School officials and police say the gun was recovered and no shots were fired. The school was locked down until students were released about 4 p.m.
