KENWOOD — A new face at Penns Manor High School is Cindy Rodgers, who is teaching French and English.

Since the departure of Barbara Gilmore, who left to teach in the Ligonier Valley School District, Rodgers has stepped into her new classroom.

Before coming to teach at Penns Manor, Rodgers taught French and English at Cambria Heights High School for 15 years.

Rodgers attended Northern Cambria High School, where she was on the volleyball and softball teams. She was also a part of the National Honor Society. She went to Lock Haven University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania for her undergraduate degree in English education and Clarion University for her master’s degree.

She then attended St. Francis University and took French courses to become a French teacher. She has a secondary English education degree and a French degree.

Rodgers now teaches French 1-4, Speech 8 and Keystone remediation classes at Penns Manor.

Her advice to students is that it is important to try before giving up.

She loves that everyone at Penns Manor is very friendly, helpful and welcoming towards her.

Everyone at Penns Manor is excited to have Rodgers and ready to learn what she has to teach us.
