PENNS MANOR: Students take part in District Jazz Festival
KENWOOD — This week at Penns Manor High School, there are many events happening. On Thursday and today, Aimee Kirsch, who is a sophomore, traveled to Indiana Area Senior High School to participate in the District Jazz Festival.
She and other students from around the area prepared music for a jazz concert that took place today. Students had the opportunity to try out for first chairs and if they succeeded, they moved on to higher parts of the competition.
Also, musical tryouts were held this week on Tuesday. Students auditioned for the roles that they wish to play in this year’s musical, “Little Shop of Horrors.” After the auditions, students will rehearse for the show until April when they perform it for the public.
In addition to the District Jazz Festival and musical tryouts, the Ski Club plans to hit the slopes.
On Sunday, members of the Ski Club will depart the school at 2 p.m. and travel to Seven Springs for a day of winter fun, weather permitting.
Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m., many students will gather at the school for the annual Snowball Dance. Students in grades seven through 12 are welcome to attend. The Snowball Dance is hosted by student council.
