SEEDS OF FAITH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY: Spellers compete in event
On Nov. 8, seven students representing Seeds of Faith Christian Academy in Indiana competed in the Association of Christian Schools International district spelling bee. Cambria County Christian School in Johnstown hosted the event.
More than 60 fifth- through eighth-grade participants from seven Christian schools in the Pittsburgh area competed in both grade level and combined spelling rounds. After almost two hours of grade-level competitions including difficult words like conjecture and wentletrap, students took a break for lunch.
At the conclusion of lunch, all first- through fourth-place winners in each grade then competed for the overall title. The final spellers went 19 rounds, some spelling very unfamiliar words. Finally, a champion was crowned.
Seeds of Faith seventh-grader Casidhe Shetter placed second and sixth-grader Morgan Marquez placed third in their respective grade level competitions.
