The Blairsville Monday Music Club featured Adrian Escalona as the Student of the Month at its meeting on Oct. 15 at the Blairsville United Presbyterian Church.
He sang “Would You Be So Kind” by Dodie and “Clay” by Grace VanderWall. He accompanied himself on the ukulele.
Adrian is in ninth grade at Blairsville High School. He is currently performing with the IUP Crimson Youth Choir and is a scholarship recipient. He also participated with the IUP Crimson Hawk Invitational Choral Conference this fall.
Other performances include playing the role of Oliver in “Oliver,” a BHS musical, when he was in sixth grade; Ching Ho in “Thoroughly Modern Millie, a BHS musical, in seventh grade; Prince Charming in “CinderReally” during the summer of 2017 at the Richmond (Va.) Civic Theater; Postman in “Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” a BHS play, in eighth grade; Donkey in “Shrek! The Musical” in eighth grade at BHS; Magic Mirror in “Snow White in TV Land” during the summer of 2018 at the Richmond Civic Theater; and Tobias Ragg in “Sweeney Todd” in the summer of 2018 at Stage Right as a scholarship recipient.
Adrian plays the trumpet, flute, saxophone and ukulele.
He began participating in chorus and band in fifth grade and attended Chorus Fest in fifth grade. He also attended county chorus festivals in sixth and seventh grades, and has been active in marching band since sixth grade.
He is a BHS varsity cheerleader for 2018-19. Adrian is the son of Irishmae Escalona, of Blairsville, and Michael Wood, of New Paris, Ohio.
