DERRY TOWNSHIP — A Blairsville woman was killed early Saturday in a collision on Route 217 at Pizza Barn Road, just south of Blairsville, state police reported.

Troopers at Kiski Valley said the victim’s eastbound vehicle on Pizza Barn Road failed to stop at a stop sign at 7:18 a.m. and was hit broadside by a southbound vehicle driven on Route 217 by a Latrobe man.

The victim, 23, was ejected from her vehicle and died at the scene of the crash, police said.

The Latrobe motorist, 33, was transported to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville and was reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries, investigators said.

Police withheld the names of both drivers, and reported that neither used a seat belt.

Volunteers from the Bradenville, Blairsville and Black Lick fire departments and paramedics from Mutual Aid and Citizens’ Ambulance Service assisted police at the scene.

JOHNSTOWN — A Clymer man died Friday of injuries he suffered in a traffic crash more than two weeks earlier in Rayne Township.

Jerry Tanner, 58, died at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where had had been under treatment since June 17, when the GMC Envoy he was driving ran into a ditch along Tanoma Road near Barr Slope Road.

State police indicated that Tanner was traveling alone at the time of the crash. Paramedics and firefighters found him unresponsive when they arrived.

The Cambria County coroner’s office did not return a call for comment.

BURRELL TOWNSHIP — State police at Indiana said a Centre County man died Thursday evening in a collision on Route 22 at Indiana Avenue near Blairsville.

Investigators said northbound vehicle driven by a Blairsville man, 69, crossed the highway and was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by the victim, a 38-year-old man from Phillipsburg, at 6:34 p.m.

State police withheld the names of both motorists. The Indiana County coroner’s office released no information, and messages to the office went unanswered.

Troopers said the Blairsville, Black Lick and Coral-Graceton fire departments responded to the scene of the accident along with Citizens’ Ambulance Service paramedics and a STAT Med Evac helicopter.

Police said the investigation is incomplete.
