Beaver County’s Bradys Run Park ice arena beat out competitors from Indiana and Armstrong counties for a $100,000 “Renovate The Rink” makeover sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Commercial Construction, or PittComm.
The Pens and PittComm announced the winner Tuesday, after receiving more than 100,000 votes in a competition that ended on March 9. S&T Bank Arena at the White Township Recreation Complex was one of the three finalists, along with the Belmont Complex near Kittanning and the Bradys Run Park rink.
The sponsors said more than 400 entries were received during the submission phase of the contest, which covered rinks in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
The Pens and PittComm also had this competition during the 2018-19 hockey season, during which Hess Ice Rink in Neshannock Township, Lawrence County, topped Greensburg’s Kirk S. Nevin Arena and The Ice Mine in Connellsville.
