BETTER TO GIVE
Don’t forget about the spaghetti dinner benefit to help cover the cost of funeral expenses for Richard “Ricky” Rearick, set for 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Iselin Fire Hall.
Cost is $8 per plate. Donations will also be accepted.
To make a separate donation, write a check to the Iselin Fire Department, and write “Ricky Rearick” in the memo line.
Rearick passed away June 1 in a carport collapse at his Young Township home.
AND THE WINNER IS ...
Diamond Elite, a local competitive twirling team, recently won championships in the categories of junior production, junior large dance twirl, junior large novelty, juvenile medium dance and junior large pom. Becca Perrone, of Northern Cambria, and Cassidy Davis, of Hastings, won in the strut duet category.
A panel of out-of-state judges selected the winners from the groups that performed at a baton-twirling competition sponsored by Twirling Unlimited last month in York.
The team is led by directors Summer Davis and Amber Woody. After traveling to a number of area contests this season, the team has already begun preparations for the 2019-20 season.
