Area churches holding Holy Week services
Holy Week services are being held at the following churches:
The Historic First Baptist Church of Glen Campbell will mark the death of Jesus Christ on a cross with a service of sacred worship to be held at the church at 7 p.m. Friday.
The evening service will provide the congregation and all worshippers an opportunity to hear again the scriptural texts that tell the story of Jesus’ Passion. The church’s longtime pastor, the Rev. Dr. Allan N. Campbell, will bring a sermon message based on the Lectionary Gospel lesson found in St. John 18:1-19:42. The sermon is titled: “How Often it Grows Darkest Before the Dawn.”
The sanctuary and chancel of the church will be stripped of all liturgical banners and hangings for the service except for a cross of thorns and a black shroud.
