The regular meeting of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary to Post 1989 was held Aug. 20.

President Debbie Mock called the meeting to order.

The Scotland School for Veterans Children Alumni Association is having their 10th annual golf tournament. The Winebrenner Theology Seminary has purchased the school and is permitting the Alumni Museum to remain there.

The 36th annual Veterans March for Diabetes, 100 miles, will be held Oct. 11 to 13, Erie to Pittsburgh.

It is time again to promote the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Essay Programs so students have ample time to prepare for submitting entries prior to the Nov. 1 deadline.

The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9 through 12 and the theme is “Why I’m optimistic About Our Nation’s Future.”

Patriot Pen is for grades 6 through 8 and the theme is “What Patriotism Means to me.”

Poppy distribution is Sept. 14. The bake sale will be Nov. 15 at the Indiana Mall.

Closing ceremonies were held. The meeting was adjourned to meet Sept. 17 at the Post Home.

Catholic Daughters, Court St. Bernard 339, Indiana, held their annual picnic Aug. 8 in the St. Bernard Parish Social Hall with 46 members and guests in attendance.

Also attending were Father Tom Federline, who gave the invocation, and Letty Calvetti, our immediate past second vice national regent.

The tables were adorned in different festive-colored tablecloths, and a delicious picnic-style buffet dinner was served.

After the dinner, Vice Regent Josephine Valenti read a letter of resignation from Regent Mary Micco, who is very ill. At the September meeting, the new district deputy will install the vice regent as regent. Also, the club will have an election for vice regent. It is the club’s “welcome back” covered dish dinner, so plan to attend and bring your favorite dish and your own table service.

Dates to remember are the covered dish dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 12; Greensburg Diocesan Committee fall luncheon at 10 a.m. Sept. 14, Bishop Connare Center; fall card party, noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 25, in the Church Social Hall; and reception of new members, Oct. 10.

The program for the evening was a food and kitchen Bingo led by Debbie Davidson. It was enjoyed by all. A special thank you was given to Chairwomen Debbie Davidson, Nancy Taylor and their committee for the delicious dinner. See you at the covered dish dinner at 6 p.m. Sept. 12.
