MEETING: The Happy Homemakers will meet at Trinity United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 5 for a patriotic luncheon and meeting.


DANCE: A polka dance presented by Rich and Patty Kois will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Norvelt Fire Hall, Norvelt. The Polka Country Musicians and Ray Jay and the Carousels will perform. Admission is $13 per person. Call (724) 422-5070 for more information.


MEETING: The Brush Valley Senior Citizens will meet at noon Sept. 4 at the Brush Valley Fire Hall. Entertainment will be provided by an Amish singing group. Bring a covered dish or dessert and your plate and utensils.


REUNION: The Class of 1948 of the Indiana High School will hold its last reunion at 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Rustic Lodge, White Township. This is the 65th reunion of the class and reunions have been held every five years since graduation. Anyone who knows of a 1948 graduate, please inform them and see if they have received notice. If not, have them call Bill Balint at (724) 465-9701 for details.


BENEFIT: A chicken barbecue and trap shoot benefit for Tom Hampton and Vicki Radebach will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Colver Sportsmen’s Club. The chicken barbecue and trap shoot are $10 each. If you’re not up to shooting just join us for dinner. Due to complications from diabetes, Hampton is in need of a kidney transplant. Radebach is finalizing the testing to be his donor. Both will be off work while they heal.

FAMILY DAY: The Shannock Valley Memorial VFW Post 6555 annual Family Day will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. The event is open to members, their children, grandchildren and a guest. Entertainment will be provided by DJ SK Sounds. There will be a photo booth, lunch, games and prizes. Please bring a covered dish.


CORN ROAST: The Shannock Valley Memorial VFW Post 6555 annual corn roast will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 7. The roast is open to members and a guest. Please bring a covered dish.


PEACH FESTIVAL: Purchase Line United Methodist Church will hold a peach festival from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church, 17107 Route 286 East, Commodore. There will be a variety of peach desserts and drinks. Donations will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the church’s fuel fund. For more information, call (724) 254-1350.
