Fly-tying classes set for January

The Ken Sink Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold fly-tying classes for beginners on Saturdays beginning Jan. 11 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 398 Church St., Indiana.

Classes run for seven weeks and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $25, which covers the cost of instructional and tying materials. Participants are required to provide their owns tools, including thread. In case of financial hardship, no fee will be required and tools will be provided for use during the course.

The class is open to individuals 12 and older. There is no charge for those ages 12 to 16.

This program is designed for those new to the hobby as well as those with limited skills. The sessions will allow participants to learn the basic techniques of fly tying while producing practical flies for use in western Pennsylvania waters.

Registration can be completed at the Indiana Angler, 218 Grandview Ave., Indiana. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 8.
