IUP to celebrate Earth Day
Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s environmental conservation club, ECO, will play host to an Earth Day celebration in the Oak Grove from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
Activities will include live music provided by local bands and musicians, a hands-on gardening demonstration, a mineral sale and a used book sale. Members of ECO and other student organizations will provide activities and information about sustainability as it relates to their groups.
IUP students and community members are invited to drop off used electronics to be recycled by Commonwealth Computer Recycling at no charge between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the loading area behind Fisher Auditorium. Hard drive destruction is available for $10.
Students living on campus in the eight suite-style residence halls will compete this week to see which building can achieve the largest percentage reduction in energy consumption. The students in the winning building will be presented with the Residential Energy Award during the Earth Day celebration.
