Smicksburg church group reports activity
The Smicksburg United Methodist Women met at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the home of one of its members. There were 13 members, three guests and seven youth present.
The devotions were a poem, reading, scripture and a prayer. The program was “The Christmas Guest” as told by Helen Steiner Rice.
The minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were approved as read.
The group reviewed the purpose statement in the United Methodist Women book and the bylaws to begin the new year.
It was reported that several care baskets and donated poinsettias were delivered last month to the shut-ins. The group received several thank you cards for the donations they gave out last month to charities and families in need.
At the next meeting, it will be decided if dates should be changed for the March and April meetings due to the Lenten Bible study and services.
The meeting was closed with the reading of the Litany. After the prayer, there was a meal and a game was played for prizes.
