The folks at Turner Dairy Farms in Penn Hills have reason to celebrate.

In a one-week span Turner’s was recognized with 11 awards at two national dairy judging competitions. The family dairy took home four “Top Three” Awards at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis., the largest and most comprehensive dairy judging competition in the nation. A week later Turner’s was awarded seven gold medals at the 2013 Los Angeles International Dairy Competition for all seven products entered.

For the ninth time in the last 10 years, Turner’s has taken home at least one “Top Three” Award.

“To continue our streak of awards at this highly competitive, nationally recognized competition speaks to the focus on quality that our local family dairy farmers and team members have each and every day,” said Chuck Turner Jr., third-generation president of Turner’s.

With a perfect score of 100, Turner’s Charlie’s Old Time Buttermilk won first place in the Cultured Milk Class. Turner’s fat free chocolate milk and whole milk were awarded second place in the Fat Free Chocolate Milk and Open Class Pasteurized Milk classes, respectively. Rounding out their Top Three Awards was a third-place award for lowfat cottage cheese in the Lowfat and No Fat Cottage Cheese Class.

Turner’s fat free skim milk, 1 percent milk, 2 percent milk, whole milk, fat free chocolate milk, whole chocolate milk and Charlie’s Old Time Buttermilk took home gold medals at the L.A. dairy competition, held at the annual Los Angeles County Fair.
