GROUNDHOG BREAKFAST: St. Andrew’s Village will stage its fourth annual Groundhog Day Breakfast on Jan. 31 from 7 to 11 a.m. in the main dining room. As Indiana-area residents know, St. Andrew’s Village hillside is a favorite gathering place for the local groundhog community.
The annual event typically draws almost 250 people to the St. Andrew’s Village campus to celebrate Groundhog Day. The breakfast includes pancakes, sausage and eggs.
The cost is $10 per person. Proceeds from the event will be used to raise money for the Living and Learning Center project, which will be used to continue St. Andrew’s Village’s focus on lifelong learning.
TRIVIA NIGHT: The Beth Israel Synagogue will hold its 10th annual Trivia Night on March 8 at the Eagles Lodge on Philadelphia Street in Indiana. The event is limited to 150 people and is typically sold out.
“Registration opens at 6:30 p.m. with outrageous desserts and the newly featured ‘healthy corner,’” said Millie Glinsky, who, along with Marcy Wilson, is coordinating the event’s menu. “And we always include a surprise snack, like the kosher hot dogs or deli delish, featured in past years.”
Game time is 7 p.m. when Gerry Pfeffer, the evening’s host, begins his mind-bending, always stimulating and often amusing eight rounds of questions. Visual, audio and theme rounds challenge teams of eight to 10 players.
“Come with a team or come alone and be placed on a team,” Pfeffer said. “Either way, you’ll feel at home in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.”
Mike Kingan, event chairman, encourages early registration, as “the popularity of this event has grown over the years.”
Tickets are $40 and may be purchased from synagogue members or by calling Cari Meil at (724) 422-2065 or Shari Baumler at (724) 388-2979.
