MEETING: AARP Evergreen Chapter 2581 will meet at the VFW at noon April 15 for a luncheon. For food donations, call Helen at (724) 463-7448. Sign-ups for the tour to the Flight 93 Memorial and Quecreek Mine will be taken. Call Judy at (724) 349-3625 for information on the trip.
A representative from the Visiting Nurse Association will provide the program following the business meeting.
CHICKEN DINNER: The Brush Valley Township Volunteer Fire Company will be serving barbecued chicken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the fire hall. The cost for half a chicken will be $5, takeout only.
MEETING: The Rainbow Diamond Glass Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 14 at The Salvation Army, Indiana. Club member Kate Greenawalt will share her collection of more than 30 antique glass celeries. FUNDRAISER: On opening day, April 12, local anglers can get a bite to eat and support Boy Scouts of America Troop 50’s spring fundraiser by visiting a fishermen’s snack shack between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Stop by Streamside Supply on Route 119 north of Marion Center. Baked goods, hot dogs, sloppy Joes, kielbasa, haluski, hot or cold beverages and more will be available.
SPRING FEST: Graystone Presbyterian Church will hold its annual children’s spring fest from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 12. Children 2 to 4 and in kindergarten to sixth grade are welcome. There will be an egg hunt, prizes, games and a craft, which will be supervised by adult volunteers with background clearances. It is requested that reservations are made. DANCE: The Chevy Chase Community Center will hold its spring fling dance from 6 to 11 p.m. April 11 with music by Hiram and the Walkers. Tickets purchased by Monday are $15. The cost at the door will be $20. The event will include food, music, a 50/50 and door prizes. The event is for adults only. Call (724) 463-0674 for more information.
