Gospel meeting

Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, Old Route 119 North, White Township, will hold a gospel meeting at 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speaker

Grove Chapel and Harmony Grove Lutheran churches will welcome Pastor Arlene Schweitzer to the 10 a.m. combined worship service Sunday at Grove Chapel Lutheran Church, 2539 Grove Chapel Road, Rayne Township. 

Holy Communion will be celebrated and graduate/advancement recognition will honor all graduates and those advanced to Junior/senior high. All are welcome.

Roast pork and holupki dinner

A roast pork and holupki dinner from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Christ Our Savior Orthodox Church, 6768 Tanoma Road, Rayne Township. The cost is $11 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.

The public is welcome. Takeouts will be available.

The next dinner is scheduled for Aug. 18.

Camp meeting

CHERRY TREE — The Church of God camp meeting will be held from Friday through Aug. 2 at the Burnside Church of God Campground, 9 Gospel Lane.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 and 7 p.m. with evangelist the Rev. James (Jimmy) Swogger, pastor of the Oakland Church of God in Distant. He has been with the church for 29 years, including eight years as youth and music pastor.

Swogger speaks at church revivals, camp meetings, retreats and minister gatherings nationally.

Prior to entering full-time pastoral ministry, he traveled with a gospel concert ministry. Swogger has sung the national anthem at various sports venues, including the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is an accomplished ventriloquist; his talents have enabled him to carry the gospel throughout the United States and to foreign countries.

There will be children and youth services each day. All are invited to attend the camp meeting and join others in singing, praying and hearing the Gospel.

Clothing fair canceled

KENT — Jacksonville Presbyterian Church will not have its free clothing fair on July 27. However, it will be open Aug. 24, fully stocked with fall and winter clothing. Looking for school clothes? Check it out. Everything is free.

Meatloaf dinner

ISELIN — Iselin Community Church will host a meatloaf dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. July 27.

Takeouts will be available.

Outdoor movie night

MARION CENTER — Outdoor movie night will begin at dusk today at Marion Center First United Methodist Church, 204 W. Main St. All are welcome.

Life Rocks Festival

The Life Rocks Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 3.  outside at Indiana Church of the Brethren, 905 McKnight Road, White Township.

Join us for a variety of music from local bands, food vendors, gift vendors and fun.

All proceeds benefit Life Way Pregnancy Center, Indiana.

Son Day in the Park

CLYMER — Son Day in the Park events will take place Aug. 3 and 4 at Sherman Street Park, Clymer.

The ninth annual opening program will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 3, featuring contemporary, gospel and bluegrass music.

There will be barbecue pulled pork sandwiches and other food and refreshments served.

Featured performers are Randy Degenkolb and Brad and Lannie Waldrip.

Also taking place will be a Shine Your Light event, where memories will be shared about several people who have passed on who were very supportive of Son Day in the Park in various ways, as well as taking a look at the present and future of this event.

There will be a prayer service for those in need.

The 11th annual Son Day in the Park will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4.

Featured performers are Anthony Frazier, His Word & Worship, Sherri Danae, New Life Community Church, Reach the Masses, Chalice, Eliza Moore, Marissa Bruno’s Music Studio, and finding the lost.

There will be balloon art, face-painting, puppet show, caricatures, a Kiddie Korner with crafts, an obstacle course and a little tyke playpen, and a food court offering hot dogs, meatball sandwiches, hot sausage, nachos, haluski, snow cones, cotton candy, ice cream sandwiches and beverages.

Participating churches include Clymer Christian & Missionary Alliance, Clymer United Methodist, Diamondville United Methodist, Dixonville Wesleyan, Penn Run Wesleyan, Purchase Line Church of the Brethren and Tanoma United Methodist.

All are invited to attend this free event.

Son Day in the Park Ministries is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity.

Yard sale

CLYMER — A yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 and 10 in the lower level at St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 360 Franklin St., Clymer.

There will be lots of used items to purchase, excluding clothing. There also will be fudge, gobs, food and a bake sale.

Scrapbook and card-making retreat

PENN RUN — A scrapbook and card making retreat will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run.

All paper crafters are welcome. The registration deadline is Oct. 12.

Annual holiday craft show

PENN RUN — Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, will hold its annual holiday craft show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

Registrations are now being accepted from craft and home vendors.

There will be a silent auction from 9 to 11:30 a.m., a pie auction at noon and a homemade soup and bake sale as well as concessions.
