On Wednesday, Aug. 7, the American Red Cross held its third Indiana Bank Challenge Blood Drive at Indiana Mall. Local banks were invited to compete to see how many donors they could recruit during the critical summer months.
Donors were entered to win a gift basket provided by CNB Bank and custom folding chairs from Marion Center Bank. Thirty-three units of blood were collected, saving nearly 100 lives.
This year’s winner of the challenge was S&T Bank with a total of seven donors participating. They will be receiving a plaque and bragging rights for a year.
The Red Cross is thankful for the support of the Indiana community.
Every day, patients throughout our community and across the country rely on volunteer blood donors when receiving medical care. Cancer patients, trauma victims, organ transplant recipients, premature babies, sickle cell disease patients and others may need blood products.
