MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP — A 14-year-old boy from Commodore was killed in the collision of a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle late Monday afternoon on Cherry Tree Road, state police reported today.
Police and the Indiana County coroner’s office have withheld the names of all involved in the crash.
Troopers from the Indiana barracks said a westbound GMC Acadia driven by a Cherry Tree woman, 32, hit the driver’s side of a southbound Chevy S-10 driven by an 18-year-old Cherry Tree man at about 5:15 p.m. Police said the driver of the pickup ran a stop sign.
The force of the impact rolled the truck onto its roof, and it came to rest against a utility pole, according to the reports. The victim, a passenger in the back seat of the truck, failed to use a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police gave no information about injuries to the drivers or a 19-year-old woman from Smicksburg, who also was riding in the pickup.
Cherry Tree and Commodore fire departments and Citizens’ Ambulance Service paramedics also responded to the scene of the wreck.
