Bob and Linda Lloyd, of Indiana, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday. A celebration will be held later in the summer with their two children and three grandchildren.

Their children and spouses are William and Dana Pugh, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jeremy and Elan Lloyd, of Walland, Tenn. Their grandchildren are Briannah and Kylie Pugh and Ethan Lloyd.

Bob and Linda met at Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in 1959 while standing in line for registration. Both were music majors. After graduating, Bob and Linda each taught music education for one year in Pennsylvania (Tyrone and Saxton) and were married on June 27, 1964, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Loysburg.

Bob and Linda moved to New York, where Bob received a Master of Arts degree from The Julliard School and Linda received a Master of Science degree in music education from Queen’s College in New York City. Linda also taught music education for five years on Long Island, N.Y.

They returned to Indiana in 1969 when Bob became a professor in the music department at IUP. Later, Bob completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

Bob retired from the music department of IUP in 2002 after 35 years of teaching. Linda taught at the lab school in Davis Hall at IUP, served as director of Children’s Ministries at Graystone Church and most recently was activities coordinator at St. Andrew’s Village. She retired in 2004.

Both Bob and Linda have been active in their former church and are current members of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Indiana. Bob enjoys tennis and Linda swims. Both enjoy spending time with family and grandchildren, reading, long walks, playing golf, camping and traveling together.
