50TH ANNIVERSARY: Eugene and Myrah Rummel
Eugene Clifton Rummel and Myrah Louise (Rickard) Rummel are celebrating their 50th anniversary. They were married on Aug. 8, 1964, at Pine Grove Wesleyan Methodist Church with the Rev. Eugene Morris officiating.
Eugene completed a military career from which he retired in 1976 after having served in Corpus Christi, Texas; Jacksonville, Fla.; Milton, Fla.; and Norfolk, Va. After retiring, he went to work at Bethlehem Mines (BethEnergy) Mine 33, and finished his time there when the mine closed.
Louise was a housewife and stay-at-home mother. However, she did various housecleaning jobs over the years.
They have six children: Doris (Dave) Kupetz, David (Sheila) Rummel, James, Julia (Terry) Sloan, Wayne (Julie) Rummel and Allen Rummel. In addition, they have 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The couple resides near Cherry Tree. They enjoy spending time with friends at the Two Lick Valley Senior Citizen’s Center in Clymer, and attending church and family get-togethers.
A celebration was held in their honor Saturday at the St. Benedict Community Center in St. Benedict, with family and friends in attendance.
