'Cuddle Up with a Good Book' contest held
The Burrell Township Library is pleased to announce the finalists of the “Cuddle Up with A Good Book” writing contest held recently at Blairsville Elementary School.
The fourth- and fifth-grade classes wrote persuasive letters to a friend in which they encouraged them to read a personal favorite book. The contest sponsor, Barbara Hafer, and library director Kate Abner presented the students with certificates and throws to encourage the writers to continue to be readers who would “Cuddle Up with a Good Book.”
The finalists for fourth grade were Harper Wehrer, Isabella Previte, Heavenlee Lowman, Amber McConnell, Eleighsa Bodnar and Lauren Alamo. The fifth-grade finalists were Alyssa Hixson, Angela Deyarmin, Alex Wilson, Krista Harper, Aaron Steiner, Ivy Long, Rachel Jackson and Gabriel Kennedy-Citeroni.
The Burrell Township Library celebrated the hard work of all the students with participation awards. The help of Brenda Rovison, fifth-grade writing instructor, and Alissa Joyce, fourth-grade writing instructor, was instrumental in the success of the project.
