Kayla Arlene Waltemire
HOMER CITY — A Homer-Center Alumni Scholarship was recently awarded to Kayla Arlene Waltemire, a 2013 graduate of Homer-Center High School. She is the daughter of Stacey Silk, of Homer City, and John Waltemire Jr., of Lucernemines.
Kayla was a member of senior high chorus, media club, National Honor Society and varsity cheerleading team. She volunteers with the Brush Valley Chapel and Personal Ponies. She plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the fall, majoring in communications media.
This year’s scholarships were funded by donations made in memory of Michael Rebovich, Palmera Yanity, John Bencic, Betty Lou Spiardi and Frances Voytek. Donations are always gratefully accepted by the Homer-Center Alumni Scholarship Fund, c/o S&T Bank, Homer City.
Melissa S. McCurdy
ERNEST — Melissa S. McCurdy, of Ernest, was named to the dean’s list at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, for the spring 2013 semester.
McCurdy is the daughter of Susan Bash, of Ernest, and Doug McCurdy, of Home. Melissa, majoring in music performance, is a 2012 graduate of Marion Center Area High School.
Megan M. Lewandowski, of Indiana, was named to the dean’s list at Washington & Jefferson College for the spring 2013 semester with a 3.75 GPA.
She is the daughter of Scott and Jody Lewandowski, of Indiana. She is majoring in business administration with an English minor and is a 2010 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School.
CLARKSBURG — Michael McDonald recently graduated from the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power. He has accepted a position in the nuclear power industry with Rolls Royce in Coraopolis.
He is the son of James and Nancy McDonald, of Clarksburg. McDonald is a 2003 graduate of Saltsburg Middle/High School and also served six years active duty in the U.S. Navy.
MARION CENTER — Miranda Pollock was named to the dean’s list at Carlow University in Pittsburgh for the spring 2013 semester. A senior majoring in biology with an autopsy specialization, she is completing an internship with the Center for Organ Recovery and Education this summer.
She is the daughter of Mark and Lori Pollock, of Marion Center, and a 2010 graduate of Marion Center Area High School.
Cody T. Marshall
CREEKSIDE — Cody T. Marshall, of Creekside, graduated with honors on May 18 from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport with an associate’s degree of applied science in Heavy Construction Equipment Technology with Technician emphasis. He also received the Pathfinders to Excellence Award.
He is the son of Tim and Kris Marshall. Marshall is a 2011 graduate of Marion Center Area High School. Cody is employed by Cleveland Brothers in Murrysville.
Amanda Marie Lockard
Sigma Alpha Lambda announced that Amanda Marie Lockard, of Indiana, recently became recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Sigma Alpha Lambda is dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.
She is the daughter of Barbara and Rick Lockard.
Lockard is a 2012 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School.
Heather Nicole Wilson, of Indiana, recently graduated summa cum laude from Mount Aloysius College in Cresson with a degree in pre-physical therapy.
She is a Mercy Presidential Scholar and a member of the Delta Epsilon Sigma National Honor Society.
Wilson has been admitted to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the fall at Chatham University, Pittsburgh.
She is the daughter of Stacey Bezilla and the granddaughter of Marjorie Bezilla.
Wilson is a 2009 graduate of Penns Manor Area High School.
