Angela Moretti, of Home, is the recipient of the Kim and Mary Jo Lyttle Scholarship for Outstanding Leadership at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
The daughter of Anthony and Julie Moretti, she is a 2013 graduate of Marion Center High School. She intends to major in nursing at IUP. While in high school, she won the All-American Youth Horse Show Scholarship, the Andy Koma Memorial Registered Nursing Scholarship and the Mahoning Medical Center Scholarship. She is a member of the Shawnee Riders 4-H Club, Team Horse Power and the Interscholastic Equestrian Association.
Daniel Timothy Rairigh, son of Jennifer and David Rairigh, of Indiana, has been named to the fall 2012 and spring 2013 dean’s list at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster. He is majoring in French and Spanish and will be studying in Paris for the fall semester.
Patrick Clark, a rising senior at Homer-Center High School, has graduated from the Pennsylvania American Legion Keystone Boys State program at Shippensburg State University the week of June 23-29. Clark was sponsored by his local American Legion Post; Clark resides in Homer City. He was one of 195 young men from across the state that graduated the program.
The American Legion, the largest veteran’s organization, sponsors this unique summertime education program for high school juniors that focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governing bodies and elected public officials. It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of the state government. The Pennsylvania American Legion’s Boys State program is called Keystone Boys State. The fee for Boys State is generally paid by American Legion Posts, with little or no expense to a young man and his family.
Hundreds of thousands of young men have graduated from The American Legion’s Boys State program; among them are some of the most prominent leaders of our nation’s history including former president Bill Clinton, basketball star Michael Jordan, news anchor Tom Brocauh, and astronaut Neil Armstrong.
Evan Wozniak of New Florence, graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from RIT’s College of Engineering in the spring 2013 quarter.
Darryl A. Jones, son of Tim and Anise Markle, of Blairsville, and David and Sandy Jones, of Tyrone, was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Robert Morris University with a 4.0 GPA. He has also been named to the Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
A 2011 graduate of Blairsville High School, he is majoring in mechanical engineering.
Taylor Long, of Indiana, graduated in May from Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications with a major in journalism.
