The Fraternal Order of Police in Indiana County has announced the cancellation of the country music concert held annually in July at the Indiana County fairgrounds as the organization’s main fundraising event.
“The FOP Lodge No. 33 Show Committee has been diligently monitoring COVID-19’s impact on our community and the recommendations in place,” said Lodge President Louie Sacco.
“It does not appear the situation will have sufficiently resolved itself in time to safely welcome our supporters from over the years and the performers into a safe concert setting at the time we had scheduled. It is with tremendous regret that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 Indiana FOP Country Show.”
The FOP revealed the decision Monday on social media.
The organization has no plan for an alternate fundraising event. Sacco said the group gratefully accepted generous contributions from the Indiana County business community to help finance the show each year, but that the FOP felt it would be inappropriate to solicit support this summer from businesses that have suffered because of the coronavirus closures.
“We understand everyone has been impacted by the pandemic and we are no exception, but we expect better days ahead,” Sacco said on behalf of the Show Committee. “We are currently exploring some other ideas to support our lodge financially later this year and will post any events or activities.
“Please continue to follow us on Facebook! We would like to wish everyone good health and stay safe!!”
