Roughly 800 to 1,000 Penelec customers in White Township lost power briefly Thursday after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole, shearing it.

The accident took place around 4:30 p.m. on Shelly Drive between Ben Franklin Road and Route 422. According to state police in Indiana, Kevin Zundel, no age given, of Indiana, reached for a can of snuff, lost control of his vehicle and hit the pole. Zundel was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, police said.

According to a Penelec spokesman, customers lost service for three or four minutes.
