The Indiana County Republican Executive Committee is accepting letters of application from county Republicans interested in filling out the remainder of Commissioner Dave Frick’s term.

Frick, 78, confirmed last month that he plans to resign at the end of December, saying that he believes the time has come for him to step aside.

Frick is nearing the completion of his 10th year in office.

Republicans interested in filling the vacancy have been instructed to submit a letter of application and a r←sum← to the Indiana County Republican Committee.

Letters and resumes are to be mailed to the Indiana County Republican Committee, c/o Chairman Jesse Daniel, 12 Gorman Ave., Indiana PA 15701.

Letters must be postmarked by Oct. 31.

Under the county code, candidates for the position must have been a registered Republican in Indiana County at the time of Frick’s election to his current term in November 2012.

The county Republican committee will hold an evening meeting during the week of Dec. 2 to give candidates an opportunity to make a case for their nomination.

The time, date and location of the meeting will be provided at a later time.

The successful candidate would serve as commissioner from Jan. 1, 2014, to Dec. 31, 2015.
