ARMSTRONG: School board selects new school colors
FORD CITY — The new junior-senior high school in the Armstrong School District has official school colors, but no name or mascot.
The board of school directors voted Monday to set royal blue and orange as the colors for the school. They also voted to approve the next set of planning documents for the project, PlanCon Part G, outlining the bids accepted at a special meeting Feb. 28.
In other business, the board voted to:
- Hire Matthew Brown as a full-time custodian at Dayton Elementary School; approve 29 special-event requests and an additional eight trips with no cost to the district; and approve several supplemental contracts at West Shamokin Junior-Senior High School for the current year: Jody Dean, boys’ volleyball assistant, $2,404; Kelly Elkin, junior high girls’ volleyball assistant, $1,483; Lisa Hileman, girls’ softball assistant, $1,849; and Joseph Hall, junior high girls’ tennis assistant, $1,483.
- n presented next month); authorize Hosack, Specht, Muetzel & Wood to audit the planning documents PlanCon Part J for West Hills Primary and Intermediate and Lenape Elementary Schools for a total cost of $4,500; renew the PagePack printer agreement with Xerox Inc. at West Shamokin and Ford City high schools; and approve the OpenDNS Inc. umbrella agreement for the Cyber Academy students.
- Approve a secondary summer school program, at the cost of teacher salaries; authorize a cash match of $2,700 for ARIN’s Pregnant and Parenting program, to go to students and not staff salaries or ARIN-related expenses; and approve student transfer requests for the current year.
- Update seven policies; set March 25 as a snow makeup day; and set the calendar for the coming school year. Aug. 22 will be the first student day, and June 5, 2014, will be the last student day and graduation.
