'Biggest Loser' winner to speak at event
Indiana Regional Medical Center will present a free presentation from Pete Thomas, the Season 2 winner of NBC’s hit series “The Biggest Loser,” at 6 p.m. March 20 at the Rustic Lodge in White Township.
Thomas travels worldwide hoping to inspire adults and children. As a young child, Thomas was left alone or with his younger sister and forced to find food wherever he could. He never learned about nutrition and exercise due to this transient lifestyle — a result of his mother’s serious mental illness.
Thomas weighed more than 400 pounds when he landed on “The Biggest Loser.” Nine months later, he won the $100,000 prize after losing a whopping 185 pounds and has kept it off for more than seven years.
Thomas’ topic will be “There’s a Winner Within You! How to Overcome Obstacles and Reach Your Highest Potential.”
Determined to help others, Thomas teaches a weight-loss program that has led to lasting results in hundreds of people. The fundamentals of his program start with a commitment to lose just one pound at a time; create transformative life changes in your mind, mouth and muscles; get rid of even those last few extra pounds; and learn how to maintain a lifetime of fitness and health.
Dr. Patrick Carone, the Center for Weight Loss physician at IRMC, will also be on hand to discuss how IRMC can help individuals reach their weight loss goals.
