BURRELL TOWNSHIP — The Walnut Hill Winery in Burrell Township is going up for sale, although an exact sales date and who may buy it are unknown.

Samantha Crissman runs the business with her daughter, Jamie, but because of physical ailments, they have decided to sell.

“The work is physically challenging,” Crissman said. “It has been our life 24/7.”

Although she is unsure of the exact closing date, she trusts that when the time comes, she’ll know. She also plans to finish out the scheduled summer events.

“I have no idea when we will close,” she said. “But I’ll know when I know.”

Crissman said she will miss the winery, and she will also miss the customer base that she has connected with on a personal level.

“We really love the people that we have met,” she said. “We contact about 4,000 customers each week, so we have a very good following.”

Crissman said she hopes that whoever purchases the winery will “take it to the next level.”

“I hope that whoever buys the winery will love it as much as me,” she said.

She said she also hopes the new owner will continue to support local businesses run by women.

“I love supporting local businesses owned by women,” she said. “I sell products made by local businesswomen in my store.”

As she looks back on her time as the owner of this quaint winery, some of the highlights were the events held there such as bridal and baby showers.

“It is so nice to see their faces when everything goes well,” she said.

Her time as owner winding to a close, Crissman is looking ahead to spending time with her kids and enjoying some quality quiet time.
