BLAIRSVILLE-SALTSBURG: District to proceed with stadium changes
BURRELL TOWNSHIP — The Blairsville-Saltsburg School District will proceed with phases of design and soliciting bids to repairs at Blairsville’s football stadium.
Plans were discussed Wednesday to fix a soil erosion problem and to explore the installation of bleachers for the visitors’ side.
To fix the erosion, a consequence of a heavy rainstorm at the beginning of the school year, it will cost about $140,000 to $150,000, said board member Rick Harper, of the buildings and grounds committee. This was the cheapest option.
“There’s no way around it,” Harper said.
While the district’s insurance company may pay for some of the necessary pipe repair, it is not responsible for soil problems, so it will not be reimbursed, he said.
Architects HHSDR will work with the district on the project.
Harper said the bleachers are in “abysmal” condition.
The board will pursue a feasibility study regarding bleacher replacement.
In other business Wednesday, the board members approved supplemental contract personnel for the 2014-15 year.
