GRACETON — Road improvement work is scheduled to begin Thursday morning in outlying areas of Center Township, the board of supervisors reported Monday.

The township’s summer road work program will start with seal coating of Nehrig, Crownover and Pierce roads and a short section of Henry Road.

The roads will be closed at 8 a.m. and traffic will be detoured until mid-afternoon, Supervisor John Bertolino said.

More road work is planned for later this month on dates to be announced.

The first phase of work on streets in the village of Aultman will entail a three-day project, Bertolino said, while workers prepare streets, perform resurfacing work, and then finish the shoulders and berms.

Before the project begins, residents will be notified by mail and notices will be placed on vehicles parked on the streets. The supervisors said that any vehicles left on the streets after 7:30 a.m. on the scheduled work dates will be towed.

Third and Hill streets, part of Entry Way and a section of Old Church Road will be repaved.

The project will proceed in phases over the next few years as the township budget allows, Bertolino said.

In other business Monday, the supervisors encouraged township residents to directly contact the code enforcement officers, Charles Westover at (724) 388-1761, and Robert White at (724) 599-8492, to report issues involving township ordinances.

The supervisors also called an executive session to discuss a personnel issue involving workers represented by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees collective bargaining agreement.
