At the December monthly meeting of the Burrell Township Library Board of Trustees, Helen Lichtenfels conducted her final meeting as president after serving in that office for two years. The board members expressed their appreciation for her diligent work for the library and endless hours involving fundraising.
The Mason jar snowman globes craft was an overwhelming success as 18 children attended the craft session recently. Director Kate Abner shared dates for upcoming craft events including: a Valentine’s Day craft on Feb. 8, St. Patrick’s Day craft on March 15, and Easter craft on April 12. Children are invited to register by calling the library at (724) 248-7122, or through the library Web page (email@example.com). All sessions are Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
Jane Kokolis reported that the library has been fortunate in receiving the Dorothy Louise Kyler Foundation Grant. The grant was offered to small rural libraries for the development of their children’s collection. Plans are in the works to purchase books, DVDs and audio books as well as a set of 2014 World Book Encyclopedias.
Tentative plans for a soup sale in March were discussed. It was noted that the soups would be ham and bean and ham and potato. Look for more information in upcoming newsletter in early February.
Planning for the 5K race will begin Jan. 7 with a possible date for the race in mid-June.
