Rally Sunday marks the beginning of Sunday school at 9 a.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 S. Sixth St., Indiana. Classes are offered for all age groups, and everyone is welcome to attend. Eucharist begins at 10 a.m.
Sunday school breakfast
CLARKSBURG — Clarksburg Trinity Presbyterian Church will begin Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 15. There are classes for all ages, from 3 up. To start off the year, a breakfast will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Clarksburg Trinity Social Hall.
Bishop to attend services
The Right Rev. Dorsey W.M. McConnell, bishop of the Episcopal Church’s Diocese of Pittsburgh, will attend both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services Sunday at Christ Church, Indiana.
During the 10:30 celebration of the Holy Eucharist, McConnell will confirm two members of the parish.
A reception for the bishop will follow the 10:30 service in the Community Room. His wife, Betsy, is expected to accompany the bishop, who is making his first visit to Christ Church since being ordained as the eighth Bishop of Pittsburgh in October.
The Rev. William Geiger, rector of Christ Church, said the public is welcome to attend the services and the reception.
Gospel quartet to perform
The Hagens Family Southern Gospel Quartet from Christiana will be at the Cookport Baptist Church in Commodore at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday. Everyone is welcome.
The Indiana/Cambria County Hymn Sing will be at The Church of God, 13791 Route 259 South, New Florence, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Come to sing, come to listen. Everyone is welcome.
Swiss steak dinner
ROBINSON — The Helping Hands of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a Swiss steak dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the church, 332 Mary St., Robinson.
The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for ages 4 and younger. Takeouts are available.
Cowboys for Christ
KITTANNING — Cowboys for Christ, an interdenominational ministry, will hold an informal monthly Bible study from 7 to 8 p.m. beginning Monday in Kittanning. Anyone interested in attending should call Paulette at (724) 545-1403 for directions.
World Suicide Awareness Day
NORTHERN CAMBRIA — World Suicide Awareness Day is Tuesday. An informational meeting about emotional intervention in hopeless situations will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at North End Assembly of God, Northern Cambria. For more information, call (814) 247-8978.
Theater group to begin
DAYTON — The Dayton Community Players theater group will begin a new season at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dayton United Methodist Christian Life Center, 105 E. Church Ave., Dayton.
The director of the group is Susan Scaife. Anyone in the surrounding area of Dayton who would like to be a part of the theater group is invited. If you are unable to attend and would still like to join, call (814) 257-8951.
The Gap Ministry will present a DVD showing of “America: Rescuing a Nation at Risk” from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Indiana Free Library, Philadelphia Street, Indiana.
The event is free with complimentary popcorn. The presentation will show how you can help bring restoration through knowledge, prayer and action.

Christian singles night
Need some plain old-fashioned fun? All Christian singles are invited to the Presbyterian church in Creekside to share a potluck, have a devotional time, then play card games or board games on Sept. 12, starting anytime after 6 p.m. Bring a dish, something for the local food bank and expect to relax and enjoy yourself. Back to church Sunday
BLAIRSVILLE — The second annual Back to Church Sunday will be held Thursday at the Blairsville Free Methodist Church, 272 S. Stewart St., Blairsville. Doughnuts and refreshments will be provided at 10:30 a.m. downstairs at the church. The celebration and worship service will begin at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary.
