Community church events planned
DERRY — Derry First United Methodist Church will host the monthly Ladies Luncheon at noon Tuesday at the church, 311 N. Ligonier St., Derry. There is no cost for the meal. There will be good food, great conversation and fellowship.
Jacobs Brothers in concert
The Jacobs Brothers, of Dillsburg, will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Independent Traditional Holiness Church, 5065 Ferguson Road, Indiana.
The group is comprised of Bob and Mike Jacobs and Mike Lawver. The concert will feature gospel songs, old-time hymns and patriotic music. The service is open to all. A free-will offering will be taken.

CHERRY TREE — The Lighthouse, Morning Star Ministries, 4886 Route 240, Cherry Tree, will hold its first Family Festival and Gospel Music-Fest Wednesday through July 13 at the church.
Family activities include sports, games, hayrides, hikes, overnight hobo camping, water park, campfires, evening gospel sings and Bible teaching with anointed teachers of the word. An outdoor candlelight Communion service, followed by a lantern launch, will be held during the evening of July 12.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no charge Thursday through July 13 at the pavilion concession stand. Evening meals are available to all and free for youths and children. The evening meal schedule is:
• Wednesday, 6 p.m., Covered dish picnic at the pavilion
• Thursday, 6 p.m., hamburgers, fries and a drink, $3
• Friday, 6 p.m., ham dinner, potatoes, green beans, applesauce and a drink, $3
• July 12, 6 p.m., spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and drink, $3
• July 13, noon to 2 p.m., barbecue chicken dinner, potatoes, green beans, coleslaw and drink, $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 3 to 11, and free for ages younger than 3.
All activities will be scheduled daily, except July 12. From 1 to 4 p.m. there will be water park activities, including Walking on Water, slides and a dunking booth.
The congregation and Pastors Ken and Wilda Brown invite all to attend. Bring a camper or tent. Restrooms and hot showers will be available.

COMMODORE — A blueberry festival will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Purchase Line United Methodist Church, 17107 Route 286 East, Commodore.

Roast beef dinner
ROBINSON — The Helping Hands of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a roast beef dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 13 in the church fellowship hall, 332 Mary St., Robinson.
The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and under. Takeouts are available.
Family Fun Day
Harvest Community Church will have a Family Fun Day from 2 to 9 p.m. July 13 at Blue Spruce Park near Ernest. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. There will be games, fishing (bring gear), a playground, hiking and fun for all ages.
ROBINSON — The Robinson Church of the Brethren will hold gospel and contemporary Christian music concerts at 6 p.m. Sundays at the church, High Street, Robinson. The schedule is as follows:

Lutherlyn day camp
SAXONBURG — Lutherlyn Day Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 13 to 18 in Centennial Hall on church grounds, 110 State St., Saxonburg.
Grades 1 through 5 will be accepted. There will be Bible study, games, nature activities, crafts, songs, puppets, stories, field trips, a campfire and more. A magician show will be held July 17.
Before the official start of camp, there will be a family meet and greet at 7:30 p.m. July 13 with light refreshments. Registration is $55 for the first child and $40 for a sibling. Scholarships are available.

KITTANNING — Harvest Community Church is offering a CPR training class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 17 at the Kittanning Campus, 143 Reed Road, Kittanning. Those attending will receive a free CPR kit. Register at www.harvestpa.org. Space is limited. Classes are open to all.
The Hopewell Methodist Church is having its annual chicken barbecue on July 19. Tickets are available for either 4:30 or 6 p.m. Eat in or take out.
Adult meal consists of half a chicken, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, roll and dessert. The children’s meal is leg/thigh, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, roll and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Love Basket food drive
The Love Basket, a nonprofit, all volunteer emergency food assistance program for Indiana County, is holding a midyear church food drive to restock their shelves.
Area churches and individuals are invited to participate during the weekend of July 26 and 27 by collecting nonperishable food items or monetary donations.
Items may then be delivered between noon and 3 p.m. July 27 to the Love Basket Warehouse in the Robertshaw Building on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus. Alternate arrangements can be made as necessary.

PENN RUN — An outdoor concert will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. July 27 in the picnic pavilion at the Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run.
The Masters will perform at 3 p.m. A free picnic supper will be held at 4:45 p.m. Faithful Friends will perform at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Mega sports camp
Indiana Alliance Church will present a mega sports camp from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 to 8 at the White Township Recreation Center, along East Pike, White Township.

ARMAGH — The second annual Back-to-School Blowout will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Valley Grace Brethren Church, at Routes 56 and 22, Armagh.
Teachers from the United School District, along with volunteers from the Women of Faith group of Valley Grace Brethren Church, have planned the event as a way to reach out to the children of the community and help them start the school year right.
The three rules for this free event are: children must be present to participate; children must be accompanied by an adult, regardless of age; and the event is not income-based. It is open to all school-age children.
There will also be a bake sale, with proceeds going to help children in need throughout the school year.
