Democratic spring banquet scheduled
The Democratic spring banquet will be held April 26 at the Rustic Lodge in White Township featuring candidates for Pennsylvania Superior Court and for Indiana County row offices.
The keynote address, “A Great Day to be a Democrat,” will be delivered by Erin McClelland, a health care specialist and regional activist from New Kensington.
Pennsylvania will choose a Superior Court Judge in 2013 with two Democratic candidates in a contested race for the May primary.
Both Judge Joe Waters and Judge Jack McVay have been invited. Waters, a Vietnam vet and former police officer from Philadelphia, has confirmed that he will attend and speak to his unique experiences.
Democratic candidates for countywide office — Sandra Kirkland for county treasurer and Mary Jane Dellafiora for jury commissioner — will speak to their more than 20 years of service to residents of Indiana County and their vision for challenges facing our county. Jennifer Rega has served as magisterial district judge in the Blairsville district office for 12 years and is seeking re-election.
Democratic candidates running for school board, borough and township positions throughout the county have been invited to greet attendees.
Meeting the Democratic and cross-filed candidates at the annual spring banquet provides the opportunity for the public to make informed decisions in the upcoming May 21 primary.
Lori Rittle, the 2012 Indiana County Female Civic Leader, will serve as master of ceremonies.
Vocalist Leanna McGiboney will provide patriotic inspiration. The nominee for the 2013 Democratic Woman of the Year award will be announced and honored.
The social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $25.
