Erosion causes road restriction

by The Indiana Gazette on July 10, 2015 10:55 AM

A one-lane section of Martin Road in White Township was closed to traffic Thursday afternoon because of a crumbling shoulder, according to officials.

The damaged portion of road is less than a mile from Route 954 near the railroad crossing, according to Chris Anderson, assistant manager for White Township. Anderson said it was unclear what caused the shoulder of the road to collapse, and engineers were being called in to assess the situation.

He urged drivers to use caution while traveling through the area of the closure, which is marked with a stop sign and construction barrels.

The lane restriction will be in place until repairs can be made, he said.
