Eisenhower Elementary School held a ribbon-cutting Friday to mark the addition of new outdoor fitness equipment purchased through a Project Fit America grant, sponsored by Indiana Regional Medical Center.

Staff, students, district officials and representatives from IRMC were on hand to dedicate the project launch with the kids offering demonstrations.

Programming includes state-of-the-art outdoor fitness equipment that is designed to address the deficit areas where children fail fitness tests.

Joining in the fun were special guests Iceburgh from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Diesel Dawg and Steamer from the Altoona Curve, Norm the Hawk from IUP and some University of Pittsburgh cheerleaders.

Locally, previous recipients of Project Fit America equipment and curriculum were Saltsburg, Homer-Center, Penns Manor Area, Ben Franklin, East Pike, Blairsville and United elementary schools.
