The Indiana Art Association presents:

• The 72nd annual IAA spring show through June 29 at the Artists Hand Gallery, 732 Philadelphia St., Indiana. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Indiana County Historical Museum, 621 Wayne Ave., Indiana, presents the following programs:

• Early cleaning methods, an exhibit focused on antique sweepers, vacuum cleaners and their predecessor, the rug beater.

• “Celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting,” an exhibit of uniforms, badges and other Girl Scout memorabilia.

• 150th anniversary of the Civil War display, a look at the soldiers and civilians affected by the War Between the States.

• “The One Room School House in Indiana County,” photographs and artifacts documenting the county’s early schools.

• Continuous exhibits detailing the history of Indiana County, including the county’s history of coal mining, Native Americans and military personnel.

The University Museum in Sutton Hall at IUP presents “Celebrate Fiber,” a summer exhibition of works by members of the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh, through Aug. 17. The museum’s summer hours are Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Located on the first floor of IUP’s Sutton Hall, the museum is free and open to the community.


The Indiana Art Association will be holding its 13th annual Arts Camp this July. The elementary camp (grades 1 through 6) will take place from July 15 to 19 at the East Pike Elementary School; the secondary camps (grades 7 through 12), will take place July 22 through July 26 in downtown Indiana with morning art classes at The Artists Hand Gallery and afternoon theater and music classes at the Indiana Players Playhouse on Philadelphia Street. Both groups will have a show and reception the Friday evening following their week of camp.

Students will sign up for the grade they just completed. The elementary camp will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a break for lunch. The cost for the week will be $125 for full-day camp or $90 for one subject.

Secondary camp will begin with an art class from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., have an hour lunch break, then will resume at with a theater class from noon to 2 p.m. and a music class from 2 to 4 p.m. Cost for the week is $150. The teachers for the elementary levels for theater are Robyn Bailey-Orchard and Megan Klingensmith. Marc Nelson will be teaching music. Art teachers include Jill Shinsky, Jess Green and Greg Hartnett. Junior and senior high teachers this year will include Robyn Bailey-Orchard, drama; Marc Nelson, music; and Arlene Miller, art.

The Jimmy Stewart Museum will present the following matinees at 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays in the third-floor theater:

• Saturday and Sunday, “Strategic Air Command,” a 1955 production starring Stewart, June Allyson and Frank Lovejoy. Stewart plays a United States Air Force Reserve officer recalled to active duty to fly B-36 and B-47 bombers.

• June 29 and 30, “Airport 77,” a 1977 production starring Stewart, Olivia de Havilland and George Kennedy. Stewart’s private luxury jet is sabotaged and sinks in the ocean, forcing a daring rescue attempt.

Punxsutawney Theatre Arts Guild presents “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” a musical based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. The shows will be presented on the Waller Hall mainstage. Tickets will be available at the Hadley Union Building, located on Pratt Drive of the IUP campus, approximately 10 days before the first show.
