The Indiana Art Association will present:

• “Coffee Art,” by Craig Peterson, until September in the Urgi Care facility, Indiana Regional Medical Center.

• A variety of art by Michael Whitton, until September in the Ambulatory Surgical Center, IRMC.

• Indiana Art Association’s Spring Art Show ends Saturday at The Artists Hand Gallery, 732 Philadelphia St. Beginning July 1, award winners from the Spring Show will be displayed at the gallery until the beginning of September.

The Indiana County Historical Museum, 621 Wayne Ave., Indiana, presents the following programs:

• Early cleaning methods, an exhibit focused on antique sweepers, vacuum cleaners and their predecessor, the rug beater

• “Celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting,” an exhibit of uniforms, badges and other Girl Scout memorabilia

• 150th anniversary of the Civil War display, a look at the soldiers and civilians affected by the War Between the States

• “The One Room School House in Indiana County,” photographs and artifacts documenting the county’s early schools

• Continuous exhibits detailing the history of Indiana County, including the county’s history of coal mining, Native Americans and military personnel

The University Museum presents “Pencil Paint Pixel: Twenty-Nine Years of Visual Communication,” through July 26. The museum’s summer hours are Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Located on the first floor of IUP’s Sutton Hall, the museum is free and open to the community.


Burkey Park in Bolivar will be the location of free concerts and movies this summer sponsored by the Bolivar Parks and Recreation Committee.

The concerts scheduled are:

Car cruise, 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Philadelphia Street in downtown Indiana. Proceeds benefit the Indiana Lions Club.

Car and bike cruises, July 18, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the field across from the Homer City fire department. There will be a DJ and a concession stand featuring hamburgers, hot dogs, steak hoagies, wings and french fries.

Concerts in the Park, held on Sundays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Memorial Park, Indiana, and sponsored by the Indiana Arts Council, will present the following shows:

• Unknown String Band with Aaron & Eli (bluegrass/Americana), Sunday

• Grist for the Mill, July 6

• Frankie & Dave (acoustic variety), July 13

The 17th annual Hoodlebug Summerfest, noon to 8 p.m. July 13 in downtown Homer City. The event features live entertainment, parade, crafts, a bicycle poker run, games for children and ethnic foods. For more information, call (724) 479-2184.

The Indiana County Historical Society, 621 Wayne Ave., Indiana, will hold a summer picnic at the Indiana VFW at 4 p.m. July 22. The Fourth of July Celebration, sponsored by the Indian Lions Club, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Indiana County Fairgrounds, 700 Carter Ave., White Township. Phil Vassar will be the headliner for the Indiana County Fraternal Order of Police Rhododendron Lodge 33 40th annual Country Music Show, at 1 and 6 p.m. July 20 at the J.S. Mack Community Center grandstands. Opening the show will be Larry Frick. Tickets are available by calling (724) 349-9114.


The Jimmy Stewart Museum, 835 Philadelphia St., Indiana, will present “The Ziegfeld Girl” at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the third-floor theater. This 1941 production stars Stewart, Judy Garland, Lana Turner and Hedy Lamarr. Three girls are recruited as Ziegfeld Follies girls and their lives change forever.

Museum admission: members, free; adults, $7; seniors, military, students with ID, $6; children 7 to 17, $5; children under 7, free. Prices are subject to change without notice.
