IUP to hold Picnics in the Grove
Indiana University of Pennsylvania will continue its annual Picnics in the Grove starting next week, with a special picnic in August in conjunction with the ribbon-cutting for the university’s newest dining facility, the Crimson Cafe.
The first picnic will be held, weather permitting, in the Oak Grove on Wednesday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Picnics are also scheduled for July 9 and 23 and Aug. 22. That one will begin at 11 a.m. following the ribbon-cutting.
Aramark food stations will be available in the Oak Grove to provide lunch at a fixed price of $6.50 per plate for one trip through the buffet line. Each picnic day has its own food theme: Hawaiian for Wednesday; western for July 9; and all-American for July 23.
Picnickers are also welcome to bring their own lunches. Recorded music will be played during the picnics.
In the event of inclement weather, picnic cancellations will be posted on the IUP website, www.iup.edu, and broadcast on local radio stations.
For the convenience of community visitors, parking enforcement for meters and pay-by-space spots will be suspended from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on picnic days. Permit parking and handicapped parking enforcement will continue as usual during picnic times.
Visitors to campus are also encouraged to check the IUP website for construction alerts, as some campus walkways and parking areas will not be available.
