KCAC recognized by Venues Today Magazine
The Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex has been recognized by Venues Today magazine.
A Global Spectrum-managed facility on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, KCAC was ranked No. 3 in the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Top Stops for venues with a capacity of 2,001 to 5,000 by the magazine.
“The accomplishment to remain one of the top spot venues is a true testament to the commitment Global Spectrum has provided and will continue to offer in providing high-quality entertainment to the Indiana community,” said Seth Benalt, Global Spectrum’s general manager for the KCAC.
Since its opening three years ago, 414,051 people have attended the 1,086 events at the complex, ranging from conferences and meetings to special engagements as well as a variety of entertainment with internationally acclaimed performances and world-famous productions.
In addition to the 5,000-seat Ed Fry Arena, the complex has more than 23,000 square feet of meeting and convention space and the 659-seat Toretti Auditorim. The Kovalchick Complex also serves as the home to IUP’s Crimson Hawks men’s and women’s Division II basketball and women’s volleyball teams.
“We are thrilled about the recent ranking and the consistency of maintaining at the top since the opening of the building,” said Sam Phillips, IUP assistant vice president for administration.
Planned for the coming months are TNA IMPACT Wrestling, starring current 2014 World Champion Eric Young on Aug. 15; the Army vs. Marines MMA Live Extreme Cage Fighting on Oct. 4; comedian Ron White on Nov. 13; and the Emmy-nominated Discovery TV series “Mythbusters” on Dec. 4.
