Lifesteps to offer Child Checks

on June 26, 2014 10:45 AM

The Lifesteps’ Child Check team will be conducting two free screenings in the area on July 7.

The first will take place at Walmart, 3100 Oakland Ave., White Township, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the second from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Lifesteps, 1455 Church St., Indiana.

Screening is for all children from birth to 5 years of age. A Child Check visit takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, with the results discussed immediately with the parents. The screening looks at the child’s development in the areas of playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking. Parents are urged to have their children screened so that any developmental problems can be caught at the earliest stage.

Appointments are recommended. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Lifesteps at (724) 283-1010, ext. 318, or (800) 225-2010.

Also, Lifesteps’ Family Care Mobile Library, a free traveling resource van available to families in the Indiana County community, will visit Walmart from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7. The Family Care Mobile Library provides the most current resources on popular topics such as child development, divorce/relationships, disabilities/special education, geriatric issues, grief and loss, health care, parenting skills, step-parenting and teen parenting.
