Local farmers eligible for USDA loans
Producers in Indiana and Westmoreland councies are eligible for emergency loans, according to Indiana County USDA Farm Service Agency Farm Loan Manager Krystal R. Sellers.
On Oct. 1, the counties were designated natural disaster areas or contiguous to a county that was designated due to damages and losses caused by severe storms, tornadoes and flooding. This designation makes all qualified farm operators in designated areas eligible for low-interest emergency loans from USDA’s Farm Service Agency.
FSA will consider each loan application on its own merits, taking into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability.
