Master Gardeners to present programs
Learn tips and techniques that you can use in your garden right now. Don’t miss these free daytime programs presented by Indiana Master Gardeners at the Indiana Free Library. All programs are from 1 to 2 p.m. in the library’s Community Room.

• Wednesday: Bees and beekeeping
Beekeeper and Master Gardener Bill Knupp will present an informative, hands-on introduction to bees and beekeeping. Whether you are thinking about keeping bees, have some experience with beekeeping, or would just like to learn more about bees and honey production, this program is for you.
• March 5: Growing Indiana’s Community Garden
Join Master Gardener Kay Snyder and photographer/blogger Lisa McCann on a virtual tour showing what’s happening at the Indiana Community Garden. Learn how you can support the garden’s efforts to make a difference in Indiana County, including new initiatives to save heirloom seeds and get more fresh food into local food banks.
• March 11: Turf Grasses
Penn State Cooperative Extension Agent Bob Pollock will talk about how to establish and maintain a healthy lawn. Discussion will include preparation, planting, maintenance and pest control.
• March 12: The Trouble with Bats
Join Master Gardener Jim Woodard in a look at bats — the good, the bad and the ugly. Learn how they can be a gardener’s friend, and how to make simple bat houses to attract them.
• March 18: Flower Gardening with Perennials
Come learn about choosing, planting and maintaining perennials for your Indiana garden with Master Gardener Jan Petro. Have beautiful flowers that come back year after year.
• March 26: Spring and Summer Bulbs
Join Master Gardener Sara Steelman to learn the whats, whens, wheres, and hows of planting and maintain bulbs for optimum results.
• April 1: Flower Gardening Checklist
Maintaining a beautiful flower garden means doing the right things at the right time.
Master Gardeners Sherry Kuckuck and Helen Mehus will help you spring into action with this review of what to do and when to do it.
